Union man arrested on crack charges

A man who tried to flee from police on a moped and then on foot is now facing drug charges.

Damion Lee Farr, 23, 118 Pinedale Road, Union, is charged by the Union County Sheriff’s Office with distribution of crack cocaine, distribution of crack cocaine within a half mile of a park and possession of marijuana.

The incident report states narcotics officers used an operative to make an undercover purchase of crack cocaine from Farr on Catherine Street on Tuesday afternoon. The purchase took place within a half mile of Veterans Park. It further states while in foot pursuit of Farr the officers observed him throw down a bag of marijuana and pieces of the recorded currency used to make the purchase.

Farr’s arrest followed a chase in which he tried to escape from a narcotics officer and two Union Public Safety Officers. The chase began when Farr failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Wilson Street and Artrhur Boulevard. Farr lost control of the moped while trying to make a turn on North Church Street and fell off. He got up and continued to flee on foot before being apprehended in the backyard of a house on Church Street.

Farr is charged by the public safety department with with reckless driving, failure to stop for a blue light and having no moped license.

Another Drug Arrest

An undercover operation helped land another man who tired to run from authorities behind bars on drug charges

Douglas Hall, 48, 113 South Enterprise St., Union, is charged by the sheriff’s office with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine within a half mile of a park.

The incident report states an undercover operative with recorded currency went to 219 South Church St. to purchase crack cocaine from Hall. When the operative arrrived, Hall got into the car with him and told him to drive to Hamlett St. The report states when Hall saw undercover units in the area he attempted to run from them and threw a plastic bag containing a white rock-like substance believed to be crack cocaine in a yard at 107 Hamlett St. Deputies recovered the bag and its contents and took Hall into custody.

The report states the Hamlett Street location where Hall tossed the bag is within a half mile of the James Moorer Ball Field.

Arrests

The following persons were arrested by the sheriff’s office:

Ruth Ellen Wallace, 52, 205 Normandy Avenue, Smyrna Beach, FL, charged May 15 with being a fugitive from justice.

Olivia Adaire Robertson, 20, 107 McPherson St., Union, charged Wednesday with driving under suspension.

Robert Charles Peterson, 44, 150 Chadwick Court, Foutain Inn, charged Thursday with disorderly conduct.

Nathan Alec Silvers, 17, 617 Bishop Road, Union, charged Thursday with disorderly conduct.

Richard Donald McBride, 33, 308 Alman St., Apt. 512, Jonesville, charged Thursday with fraudulent check.
