Albany Shane Foster Sr., 31, 524 Foster St., Union, is charged by the Public Safety Department with criminal domestic violence.
The incident report states an officer was dispatched early Saturday morning to Foster’s residence in response to a report of an assault. When the officer arrived he spoke to the victim who said the incident grew out of an accusation Foster made against her. The accusation turned into a struggle over the victim’s cell phone which broke in the process. During the struggle, the report states Foster pulled the vicitm’s head back by her hair, grabbed her by the neck and — after the phone broke — hit her in the mouth. The victim then got her children, ran from the house and called police.
The report states another officer who arrived first on the scene said when Foster came out of the house he told the officer to go ahead and lock him up. The officers did so, arresting him and transporting him to the Union County Jail.
More Criminal Domestic Violence
Another man who allegedly hit a woman didn’t ask police to arrest him but they did so anyway after finding him hiding in a gully.
Edward Matthew Sweezy, 29, 1223 Arthur Boulevard, Union, is charged by the public safety department with criminal domestic violence.
The incident report states an officer was dispatched Friday night to Sweezy’s residence in reference to a domestic call. When he arrived, the officer spoke with the victim who said Sweezy had grabbed her by the hair, pushed her to the floor and threatened to kill her. She said he also pushed her in the face and disconnected the phone line from the wall while she was talking to dispatch.
The report states the victim had redness to the back of her head at the hair line which is consistent her hair being pulled.
The victim told officers Sweezy was hiding under the house. A search of the area turned up Sweezy who the report states was hiding under an old fallen tree in a deep gully behind his house. He was taken into custody and transported to jail.
Shoplifting
A woman ended up in jail Saturday after allegedly trying to shoplift infant clothing and other items from a local store.
Brenda Anne Roemhild, 54, 1401 Jonesville Highway, Room 11, Jonesville, is charged by the public safety department with shoplifting.
The incident report states officers were dispatched Saturday afternoon to a store at 513 North Duncan Bypass in response to a report of a shoplifter in custody. When they arrived they met with the store’s loss prevention officer who told them he witnessed Roemhild select infant clothing, a pair of infant shoes, a pack of earrings, two tubes of makeup, a pack of hair bows and one Loreal Cream and concealed the items in her purse. He said she then went to a register where she paid for three items she had not concealed in her purse. She then left the building without paying for any of the concealed items
The report states the items in Roemhild’s purse had a total value of $60.23. All were recovered but the loss prevention officer said the store will seek restitution because some of the items’ packages were destroyed and therefore they could not be resold.
Roemhild was arrested and transported to jail. The report states a trespass notice was issued to her for the store.
Another Shoplifting
Steaks were allegedly on the person, but not the dinner plate, of an alleged shoplifter Friday night.
Brennon Tyler Hamright, 21, 1347 Santuc-Carlisle Highway, Carlisle, is charged by the public safety department with shoplifting.
The incident report states an officer was dispatched to a store at 320 North Duncan Bypass in reference to a shoplifter. When he arrived the officer was met by the manager who said he observed Hambright concealing two T-bone steaks on his person then passing all points of purchase without paying for the items. The manager said he stopped Hambright and called the police.
The report states the steaks had a total value of $18.88 and the store would be seeking restitution because they could not be resold.
Resisting Arrest
A man led police on a chase until he realized he had run out of room to run.
Solomon Maurice Gore, 19, 309 South Church St., Union, is charged by the public safety department with petit larceny, breaking into a vehicle and resisting arrest.
The incident report states an officer was dispatched Friday evening to a convenience store at 706 Lakeside Drive in reference to Gore who the department had arrest warrants on. The officer had been informed Gore was in a car in the store parking lot and when he approached the vehicle and addressed him by name Gore responded. He then told Gore of the arrest warrants and asked him to step out of the car.
Gore then asked what the warrants were for and was told by the officer he wasn’t sure but they were on their way. The officer again asked Gore to step out of the car and Gore said okay and did so. The report states when the officer placed his hand on Gore’s shoulder and told him to lean against the car, Gore ran around the back of the car. The officer pursued Gore around the car and was able to grab his shirt tearing a piece of it off as Gore spun around trying to evade arrest.
The chase continued across the parking lot, across Lakeside Drive and down the embankment beside the bridge, under the bridge and up and across the creek and sandbar where the report states Gore finally gave up when he realized he had nowhere else to go. The officer then drew his gun and ordered Gore on the ground where he handcuffed him then took him to the top of the bridge on Lakeside Drive and placed him in a patrol car.
The warrants for Gore’s arrest on the petit larceny and breaking into a vehicle charges state on April 21 he stole a wallet from and broke into a car parked at Willow Lane.
As Gore was being escorted to the patrol car, the report states the two females who had been with Gore in the car the officer found him in started yelling and shouting despite repeated demands by the officers present that they get back in their car. The two were then arrested and transported to the public safety department where the youngest of the two, a minor of 16 years of age, was released to a parent. She and the other female, Jessica Rae Levister, 20, 500 Toney Road, Union, were both charged with disorderly conduct.

Latisha Nicole Norman, 30, 120 Lukesville Road, Union, charged Friday with disorderly conduct.
