The Lockhart RiverRats earned a birth in the Global World Series this past weekend when they placed second in the Mighty Casey Super Global Tournament.
On April 24, the RiverRats beat the Simpsonville Stampede 10-1. The Lockhart-based team was then beat 5-4 by the Greenville Blast.
After the two Saturday games, the RiverRats were the No. 3-seed team going into Sunday.
The RiverRats then beat the Palmetto Young Guns 4-3 and defeated the Greenville Blast 8-6.
In the Championship game, the RiverRats lost 7-1 to the Carolina Big Dawgs from Fayetteville, N.C.
“We took the field at 9 a.m. Sunday and didn’t leave until 8:30 p.m.,” coach Jeff Bailey said. “We just ran out of gas in the championship game.”
