An argument allegedly involving one person pulling a knife on another landed four people in jail Wednesday.

Carolyn Evette Carter, 24, 113 Munro St., Union, is charged by the Union Public Safety Department with disorderly conduct and drawing a knife in affray. Carter is charged in a incident that began around 11 p.m. Monday night at an apartment complex at 1111 Lakeside Drive.

Also charged with disorderly conduct in the incident are Christie Yolanda Smith, 19, 1111 Lakeside Drive, Apt. 36D, Union; Chavis Antonio Littlejohn, 22, 102 Thompson Road, Union; and Sierra Nicole Johnson, 23, 683 Rice Avenue Extension, Apt. 2G, Union.

The incident report states around 1 a.m. Tuesday Smith came to the pubic safety department to speak with an officer. Smith told the officer that around midnight Carter started with her when she was at her home at 1111 Lakeside Drive as she was getting ready to walk to another apartment to get a cigarette. Smith said Carter followed her, cursing at her, and then walked into the apartment without asking to be invited in. She said Carter then pulled out a silver box cutter knife and was getting ready to cut her and kept pointing it at her face and neck. She said after that she left.

After getting a written statement from Smith, the report states the officer went to the complex and interviewed the woman at the apartment where the incident took place. The report states the woman said Carter just walked in her apartment and started yelling in Smith’s face about her sister. The woman said she heard Carter say put down the knife and that she herself told Carter to put the knife down. She said Carter turned to her with the knife and said she was tired of Smith messing with her sister. The woman said she continued to try to tell Carter to put the knife down but Carter just kept yelling at Smith. She said Carter had a box cutter knife in her hand and every time she tried to get her to put it down she just kept pushing the knife to Smith who was sitting down. The woman said some boys then came in and they left.

The report states around 2 a.m. Carter and Johnson came to the public safety department to speak with the officer about the incident. Carter said she was smoking on her porch with her cousin when Johnson, her sister, pulled up with her boyfriend, Littlejohn, to get the keys to her house. She said they pulled down past her building to let someone out and she then saw Smith walk towards the car saying things and shouting at Johnson. Carter said as she walked down there she heard something about someone beating someone and that once she got there she asked Smith what was going on.

Carter said she did go into the apartment where the incident took place but was angry at the time and entered without knocking and going off on Smith. The report states Carter said she did not have a knife or razor or box cutters waving in Smith’s face.

The officer then spoke with Johnson who the report states said she had pulled up with Littlejohn to drop off a friend at the apartments. She said Littlejohn took some clothes to Smith’s apartment for their child, but then came out and said the child was not there. Johnson said when Smith came out of her apartment she was cussing and yelling at Carter and they were all exchanging words back and forth. She said when Carter walked down to see what Smith was saying, Smith went into another apartment and Carter went in also. Johnson said she, Littejohn, Smith and Carter were all exchanging words with each other.

Johnson said she did not go into the apartment and didn ot know what happened in there. She said when Carter came out of the apartment they left.

The report states the officer then charged Carter, Smith, Johnson and Littlejohn with disorderly conduct. All four were taken into custody Wednesday morning.

An unlocked door may have provided a thief with the opportunity to steal a laptop from a residence Wednesday evening.

The incident report states officers were dispatched early Thursday morning to 1208 West Main St., Apt. 2B, in response to a break-in. When the officer arrived he was told by the victim she had put her Gateway laptop with the cord wrapped around it on top of her bed before she left for work a little after 2 p.m. Wednesday. She stated her boyfriend was there until 5 p.m. and said it was still there when he left.

The victim said she arrived home around just before midnight and did not at first notice the laptop was missing. It was not until just before 12:30 a.m. Thursday she noticed it was gone.

The officers checked the apartment and could not find any damage to either of its doors. The report states the victim said sometimes she thinks her back door is locked and it isn’t.

The laptop, which is blue and gray with Windows Vista, is valued at $800.
