Union County scored first in the bottom of the first inning when Andrea Eison singled, stole second base and came home on an error on a ball hit by Abby Allen.
The Jackets scored five more runs in the second inning when Katie Melton leading off is hit by a pitch, Brooke Rollins walks, Ashley Vaughan flies out but Melton tags and scores. Tiffany Vaughan then singled and Megan Russell walked to load the bases and Eison smashed a single to send three batters across homeplate.
In the fourth inning, Eison walked and stole second base. Logan Wade then hit a towering fly to centerfield that was dropped. Wade then scored on a single by Ashley Vaughan.
Union County sealed the game in the sixth inning when Wade singled, Melton singled and both scored on a double by Rollins.
The Lady Jackets played another great defensive game allowing only one run. Ashley Vaughan, pitching an outstanding game, picked up her eighth win of the season scattering five hits, struck out eight batters and gave up no walks. Eison was 2-3 with three RBIs and a triple and Melton was 2-2 with a double, a walk and three runs scored.
Union County (15-0 overall, 8-0 region) will next host Blue Ridge 6 p.m. Thursday at the Timken Sports Complex.
