Democratic candidates for Union County Council to debate tonight

Candidates for the Democratic nominations for Union County Council and supervisor will debate the issues this evening at USC-Union.

Union County Democratic Party Chair Ann Stevens said the debate, which will begin at 7 p.m. in the USC-Union auditorium, will focus on the issues of health care, unemployment, economic development and education. Stevens said the debate will involve the candidates running for the party’s nomination for supervisor and the District 1 and District 4 county council seats.

The candidates are:

Supervisor — Tommy Sinclair (incumbent), Mickey Gist and Ralph Tucker.

District 1 — Joan Little (incumbent) and Richard Kelly.

District 4 — Joey English (incumbent) and Ben Ivey III.

Stevens said Steve Ramsey of WBCU will serve as moderator.

The public is invited to attend.
