The event included, of course, a parade which highlighted several floats from local and area churches and parade marshal Miss Society Hill Teen Destiny Knox, who first approached the town council about having the parade as part of her pageant competition platform; food; music; entertainment; and the planting of a red maple tree in honor of fallen SC Highway Patrolman Lance Cpl. Jon Nash. Lockhart Mayor Ailene Ashe said the event not only was blessed by perfect weather but a great turnout. She estimated there were close to 500 people who attended the festival and praade which began at 10 a.m. and ran until 5 p.m.
“I was really, really excited about the turnout we had,” Ashe said. “It was just great. We had all kinds of things going on. . . It was just wonderful. . . We loved it. It was worth all the hard work.” These are a few images from the event. See these and more photos from the event at The Union Daily Times Facebook page.
