Three people arrested in Lakewood Drive drug bust

Three people are facing multiple charges after a search of a Lakewood Drive residence turned up marijuana, cocaine and other narcotics.

Arthur Earl Edwards, 52, 407 Lakewood Drive, Union, is charged by the Union County Sheriff’s Office with two counts of neglect towards a child, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a Schedule III narcotic, possession with intent to distribute a Schedule III narcotic, possession with intent to distribute a Scheduled IV narcotic, possession of a gaming board, possession with intent to distribute cocaine within a half-mile of a school, possession with intent to distribute a Schedule IV narcotic within a half-mile of a school, possession with intent to distribute marijuana within a half-mile of a school and possession with intent to distribute a Schedule III narcotic within a half-mile of a school.

Arthur Earl Gist, 27, 407 Lakewood Drive, Union, is charged by the sheriff’s office with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a Schedule III narcotic, possession with intent to distribute a Schedule III narcotic, possession with intent to distribute a Schedule IV narcotic, possession of gaming board, possession with intent to distribute marijuana within a half-mile of a school, possession with intent to distribute a Schedule III narcotic within a half-mile of a school, possession with intent to distribute a Schedule IV narcotic within a half-mile of a school and possession with intent to distribue cocaine within a half-mile of a school.

Mary Juanita Jeter, 47, 1405 Peach Orchard Road, Union, is charged by the sheriff’s office with simple possession of marijuana and possession of a Schedule III narcotic.

The incident report states deputies served a search warrant on the Lakewood Drive residence Monday afternoon. It states deputies found a large amount of green plant material believed to be marijuana; a white powder substance believed to be cocaine; a large amount of a Schedule III narcotic; a large amount of a Schedule IV narcotic; digital scales, baggies, rolling papers and growing materials.

The report states 407 Lakewood Drive is the residence of Edwards, Gist and two minor males. Jeter was there at the time the warrant was served. Edwards, Gist and Jeter were taken into custody and transported to the Union County Jail. The minors were turned over to relatives until an investigation by the Department of Social Services is completed.

The following incident is being investigated by the sheriff’s office:

Weapons Stolen

A rifle, a shotgun and a hunting bow were among the items stolen from a house on the Cross Keys Highway sometime Wednesday.

The victim told deputies he left his home at 4812 Cross Keys Highway just after 11 a.m. to go to work. When he got back home around 9:30 p.m. he noticed his front door had been kicked open. He didn’t go inside but called 911 and waited for law enforcement to arrive.

The incident report states the bedrooms in the house had been ransacked, the dresser drawers in the room pulled out and most of them left on the floor. The victim told investigators the following items were missing:

• A Remington 30-6 auto rifle ($400)

• A Remington 12-gauge auto shotgun ($400)

• A PSE hunting bow with night sights ($700)

• A set of Green Owl night vision goggles ($320)

• A set of Bass Pro Shop binoculars ($125)

Damage to the door was estimated at $100.
