Cynthia Zala Lawter, 46, 528 Peach Orchard Road, Union, is charged by the sheriff’s office with false information, larceny of medication and unlawful possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance.
The incident report states Lawter called 911 on Friday to report she had been robbed at gunpoint by two black males in the parking lot of a store. She told the responding officer she and a relative were coming out of a store when she noticed two men going through their car. Lawter said she yelled at them to get out the car and one of the men pulled up his shirt and showed her a gun. She said the two men then ran away with her purse that contained another relative’s medications she had just filled. She claimed the incident happened two hours earlier but she was afraid to report it at the time.
The report states Lawter’s story did not add up and the officer questioned the relative she said was with her at the time of the incident. The relative said Lawter was not telling the truth, that she still had the medication and was making the story up.
The oficer then spoke with Lawter again and advised her to surrender the medication. The report states she again claimed it had been taken by two men. Her story changed when the officer told her what her relative said. She then admitted she had not been telling the truth and took the officer to where she hid the medication.
The report states the medication was Alprazolam/Xanax IMG and that the prescription had been for 90 pills but the bottle contained only 52 small blue oval shaped pills with G3721 stamped on them. Lawter told the officer she’d taken some of the pills and given some away.
