Lady Jackets place 2nd at Chik-Fil-A Classic

Union County’s girls track and field team were just one point shy from being champions of the Chick-Fil-A Classic.

The Lady Jackets placed second among seven teams competing Friday at Emerald High School. Emerald won the meet with 137 points. Union County had 136 points.

Hydia Greene placed first in the 800-meter run with a 2:41 time; Amanda Sinclair won the 1,600-meter run with a 6:15 time.

Union County’s team of Greene, Dynia Davis, Brishauna Henderson and Shakiera Epps won the 4X400-meter relay. Greene, Davis, Epps and Christa Green won the 4X800-meter relay.

Demisha Norman placed first in the long jump 15-1 and McKale Hardy won the triple jump 31-11.

Union County’s boys team placed fourth overall. Ninety-Six won the meet. Union County racked up 74.5 points.

The Yellow Jackets’ team of Victor Ruth, Brennan Crosby, Michael Mebane and Erik Beatty placed first in the 4X100-meter relay with a 43.7 time.
