Union County comes back to beat Landrum; Lady Jackets drop 2 games

Union County's soccer team came back in the second half to beat Landrum 4-2 on Thursday night.

Landrum scored two quick goals just after the start of the game, but the Yellow Jackets then answered with two goals.

During the second half, Union County shut Landrum out and scored to more goals for the win.

Dusty Rhinehart led the Yellow Jackets with three goals. Dayne Jackson scored a goal and had an assist.

Goalie Robert Humphries had four saves.

Union County, which is 2-1 overall, was scheduled to play Woodruff 7 p.m. Friday at home.

LADY JACKETS SOCCER

The Lady Jackets' soccer team lost in a shoot-out Thursday night against Landrum 4-2.

Union County controlled most of the game and went up 1-0. In the second half, however, Landrum took advantage of the one scoring opportunity that they got and tied the game.

The Jackets lost the shootout 3-1 for a final 4-2 score.

On Tuesday, Union County lost 2-0 to Broome.

"We played well but did not take advantage of our opportunities," coach Stewart Wagner said.
