COLUMBIA — Acting United States Attorney Kevin F. McDonald stated today that Kimberly O. McAbee, age 44, of Woodruff, South Carolina, was charged in one-count Indictment with bank embezzlement, a violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 656.

Federal authorities allege that from 2005 until 2009, McAbee embezzled approximately $520,000.00 while employed at Arthur State Bank in Union, South Carolina.

The maximum penalty McAbee could receive is a fine of $1,000,000.00 and imprisonment for 30 years.

Mr. McDonald stated that the case was investigated by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and that he has assigned the case to Assistant United States Attorney William J. Watkins, Jr., of the Greenville office for prosecution.

The Acting United States Attorney stated that all charges in this Indictment are merely accusations and that all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
