Allegations made by an inmate about the Union County Jail are being investigated by the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

In a statement released Thursday, Union County Sheriff David Taylor stated that on Monday he was made aware of some allegations made by the inmate. Taylor said because of this he contacted SLED and requested the agency conduct an investigation. He said he expects the investigation to be completed by the end of this week.

No further information was available at press time, but Taylor had scheduled a press conference for 9:30 a.m. this morning (Friday, Feb. 26).
