An attack by a cat, a stolen gun, and another act of larceny are among the cases being investigated by The Union County Sheriff’s Office.

Cat Attack

A deputy was dispatched to a residence at 255 Bailey Road on Saturday afternoon in response to a report of a cat attacking a woman. The victim told the deputy she had been out walking her dog a little earlier in the day when a neighborhood cat walked between her legs and she stepped on its tail. She said the cat then bit her on her left foot. The woman said the cat’s eyes did not seem right and that his voice sounded raspy.

Deputies called animal control to the scene to get the cat but before they arrived it ran off. A trap was set for the animal and the victim went to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Stolen Gun

A woman reported Tuesday that sometime between Jan. 15 and Feb. 9 someone stole her silver, .25-caliber automatic pistol. The theft apparently occurred sometime during the move from her old home at 2691 Lockhart Highway to her new home at 125 Mill St. The gun, which had seven rounds of ammunition in its clip, is valued at $100.

Money Stolen

The theft of $76 in cash and a $10 makeup bag from a residence at 481 Fairwood Boulevard was reported to the sheriff’s office Friday morning. The victim said that earlier in the day she discovered that the pink and lime green bag which contained the $76 was missing from where she left it on the bed.

Shoplifting

Underwear, sunglasses and a Bluetooth are good things to have but none of them are worth going to jail for.

Susan Joanne Lively, 38, 1314 West Main St., Union, is charged by the Union Public Safety Department with shoplifting.

The incident report states an officer was dispatched Tuesday to a business at 513 North Duncan Bypas. When the officer arrived he was met by the store’s loss prevention officer who told him he had a white female in custody. He said the woman, identified as Lively, had taken a Bluetooth, two bras and two pairs of sunglasses and carried them out of the store without paying for them. She was outside when he stopped her and brought her back into the store.

The public safety officer then placed Lively under arrest and transported her to the Union County Jail.

The items Lively is accused of stealing have a total value at $101.

Defrauding An Inkeeper

A stay at a motel can be a pleasant experience but can end badly if you get caught trying to check out without paying your bill.

Wanda Faye Keisler, 39, 2355 South Duncan Bypass, Union, is charged by the public safety department with defrauding an inkeeper.

The warrant for Keisler’s arrest states she stayed two nights — Feb. 7-8 — at a local motel and then left without paying the $109 she owed for the room. Keisler was taken into custody Tuesday and transported to jail.
