“Saturday’s the big day,” said Pastor Don Moore. “The big rig is rolling to bring much needed food and other necessities to the fine folks in Union County.”
Moore was notified earlier this month that Second Harvest — the food bank agency where the Jonesville church receives food for its distribution days — would in fact come through with a truck load of food for February.
That truck will arrive Saturday morning, Feb. 27, carrying food the church plans to distribute to as many of the more than 900 families it currently has registered to receive food as part of its food bank program as it can.
The Potters House also is now a member of the United Way’s Gifts in Kind Program which allows Moore and other representatives of the church to select non-food items like toilet paper, paper towels, diapers and many others for distribution each month to those who come for assistance.
This month’s distribution day was changed from Feb. 20 to this Saturday’s official date and Moore wanted to remind people there’s still time to register if they have not done so yet.
New registrations will be accepted at the church 2-5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, and 2-6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26. Anyone with questions or unable to make it to the church in Jonesville to register also can call Moore at (864) 680-3465.
Again, if you’ve already registered to receive food at a past distribution event you do not need to register again to receive food at this weekend’s distribution day.
Food vouchers will be handed out beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday and boxes will be distributed from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Volunteers also are needed to help this weekend.
Moore is looking for people who are interested in helping this Friday beginning at 2 p.m. filling boxes for the Saturday event. He’s also looking for people to help with distribution on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. and until everyone has received their box.
The pastor welcomes any and all to help with this mission work and encourages those who can help to give him a call.
AN ADDED BONUS:
Pastor Don Moore of The Potters House in Jonesville reported Tuesday not only will people be able to get much needed food assistance at this weekend’s Truck Load of Food distribution day at the church, they also will have the opportunity to apply for a job. The U.S. Census Bureau will be on hand during the event to administer testing for anyone interested in part-time, high-paying temporary jobs with the census.
FOR MORE INFO:
To find out more about the Truck Load of Food event on Saturday, to register for a box of food or for any other questions, contact The Potters House Pastor Don Moore at (864) 680-3465. Remember, registration for this Saturday’s distribution day will be held 2-5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, and 2-6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, at the church in Jonesville. Also, if you’ve already registered to receive food you do not need to do so again.

May all who receive the food are truly in need and not taking from those who do.
