Two charged with domestic violence in parking lot fight

Togetherness took on a whole new meaning when a parking lot argument between boyfriend and girlfriend that turned violent ended with the couple under arrest.

Rebecca Ann Odell, 18, 122 South St., Buffalo, is charged by the Union Public Safety Department with crimnial domestic violence second offense and Jonanthan Trevisani Sims, 22, 303 North Boyce St., Union is charged by the department with criminal domestic violence.

The incident report states an officer was dispatched to the parking lot of 502 North Duncan Bypass Friday afternoon in response to report of a fight between a man and a woman. When he arrived, the report states the officer the man, later identified as Sims, and the woman, later identified as Odell, in the parking lot. The officer spoke to Sims first who said he and his girlfriend, Sims, had been in a verbal altercation but he hadn't touched her. Sims said he just wanted to get in his car and leave

The officer then spoke to Odell who said she and Sims were arguing over money and he became irate and began to curse her. She said Sims grabbed her by the face, struck her about the face and the shoulder and then threw her to the ground. The reports states Odell said this took place while the couple’s small chld was in the car.

The officer then spoke with a witness who said another witness had come to the door and told her a fight was going on oustside. She said when she stepped out of the building she saw Sims grab Odell and strike her several times about her head and shoulder areas. She said she yelled at Sims to stop and he did and then began to walk away and get in his car.

The witness said Odell then ran over to Sims' car and struck him several times through the open driver's side window. The other witness told the officer she saw Sims and Odell start arguing in the parking lot. She said she saw Sims walking behind Odell and that she turned to face him and struck him in the chest or neck area. It was at the point the witness said she went in the building and called 911.

The officer then placed Odell and Sims under arrest. They were then transported to the Union County Jail.

More Criminal Domestic Violence

A man's alleged attack on a woman was not only an act of violence but also bad timing as at least part of it was witnessed by a pubilc safety officer.

Lee Arthur Byrd, 32, 201A West Henrietta St., Union, is charge by the public safety department with criminal domestic violence.

The incident report states later Friday afternoon an officer was dispatched to the area of Tiger Court in response to a report of a fight in progress involving a man attacking a woman. When the officer arrived, the report states he observed the man, later identified as Arthur, running toward the woman with his fist drawn back screaming he was going to beat her up. The woman was described as leaning forward with her hands covering her head. The report states just as he reached the woman, Arthur was dragged away by another man

The officer then got out of his car and approached Byrd who said he and the woman had been arguing but he hadn't physically assaulted her in any way. The report, however, states the officer observed blood coming from the knuckles of Byrd's left hand

The officer then spoke to the woman who said Byrd had knocked her to the ground and struck her about the face, head and body several times. She said she got to her feet and was trying to leave when Byrd ran at her the second time. The report states the officer observed swelling of the victim's right eye.

The officer then spoke with a witness who said she was driving by when she saw Byrd hittnig the vitcim several times as she was laying on the ground. She said she stopped her car and yelled at Byrd to get off the victm. She said when the victim got up and tried to leave, Byrd ran at her with his fist drawn back threatening to beat her up.

Byrd was placed under arrest and taken to jai.

The following persons were arrested by the public safety department:

Eric Martin Waddell, 25, 186 Peterhawk Creek Road, Jonesville, charged Saturday with disorderly conduct.

Jermaine Antonio White, 37, 7 Mims Avenue, Greenville, charged Saturday with driving under the influence.

Reginald Lewis Smith, 44, 301 Lipsey St., Union, charged Saturday with disorderly conduct.
