Mr. Johnson was born in Whitmire, SC, a son of the late William McKinley Johnson and Lelia Robinson Johnson. He grew up in Buffalo and later retired from Excel Hoisery Mill. Mr. Johnson was a Veteran of the US Navy having served in World War II. He later joined the US Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Johnson was of the Baptist Faith and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Carmen Jeter and husband Hugh and Donna Palmer and husband Darryl, all of Union; two grandsons, Jason Palmer and Collin Palmer; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Johnson was predeceased by a sister, Mae Johnson and four brothers, Albert, John, Fred and Bobby Johnson.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Febru.11, 2010 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Mr. Darryl Palmer.
Visitation will be held at the graveside immediately following the service.

The family is at the home of his daughter, Carmen and Hugh Jeter, 132 Brammlett Lane, Union.
