A public safety officer was called to a store at 513 North Duncan Bypass to arrest the teen who was caught attempting to shoplift a Playstation game. A store official told the officer he had observed the boy select a Grand Theft Auto Playstation 2 game, take it out of its package and then conceal it in his left side coat pocket. He said he confronted the teen as he attempted to leave the store, retrieved the game and escorted him back inside to await the arrival of law enforcement.
The game cost $29.96 and cannot be resold because it was removed from its original package.
The teen was taken to the public safety department where he was charged with shoplifting and then released into the custody of a family member.
More Shoplifting
An officer was dispatched to the same store Wednesday afternoon in reponse to yet another alleged incident of shoplifting
Amanda Carol Millwood, 33, 351 Ivey Road, Chesnee, is charged by the public safety department with shoplifting for allegedly trying to take a memory card out of the store without paying for it.
When the officer arrived, a store official said Millwood had taken an S.D. Memory Card from its package and placed it in her pocketbook then left the store, bypassing all the cash registers. The memory card, which is valued at $27, was recovered. Millwood was placed under arrest and transported jail.
Criminal Domestic Violence
A Union man ended up in jail Wednesday after allegedly hitting and choking a woman a week earlier.
Jeremy Jerome Thomas, 19, 905 North Church St., is charged by the public safety department with criminal domestic violence. The warrant for Thomas’ arrest alleges that on Jan. 28 at 103 Taley Drive he punched and choked a woman.
Thomas was taken into custody around 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Incidents
The following incidents are being investigated by the Union County Sheriff’s Office:
Drive-By Shooting
A man told deputies while he was out walking his dog on Flat Drive in Buffalo late Monday afternoon three white males in a truck drove by and shot at him. He did not get the license number and said he did not know the people in the truck.
Pendant Stolen
A woman reported that a $500 past, present, future diamond pendant was stolen from her home at 523 Browns Creek Road, Union. The theft occurred sometime between 8 a.m. Jan. 29 and 8 a.m. Monday. The 14 weight diamond necklace is silver in color.
Fraud
A thief who somehow acquired access to a Carlisle man’s banking information stole a total of $1,070 in the space of a month. The victim told deputies a bill in the amount of $585 was paid to an insurance company and a bill in the amount of $485 was paid to a cell phone company without his authorization. The payments were made between the beginning of the year and the first week of February.
Car Egged
A man reported that sometime between 11 p.m. Monday and 6:30 a.m. Tuesday somebody came into his yard at 1205 Kelly Road, Union, and threw eggs on his car. Damage was estimated at $60.

Stanley Johnson, 49, 731 Highway 101, Graycourt, charged Tuesday with no SC driver’s license.
Lawanda Sherice Clowney, 37, 120 Aqua Lane, Union, charged Wednesday with speeding and driving under suspension first offense.

Jonathan Doyle Sinex, 29, 4441 Mount Pleasant Church Road, Chester, charged Tuesday with grand larceny.
James Jason Yarbrough, 35, 125 Mill St., Union, charged Wednesday with three counts of fraudulent check.
Evelyn Whitener Coker, 59, 102 Cogdell Plaza, Apt. A, Union, charged Wednesday with two counts of fraudulent check.
Terra Renea Washington, 31, 121 Chambers Avenue, Union, charged Wednesday with two counts of fraudulent check.
Boris Lamont Smith, 26, 178 Summer Valley Road, Buffalo, charged Thursday with public drunk.
