Navy Veteran
UNION, SC — Mr. Paul A. Barnette, widower of Gloria Little Barnett of Oakmont Resident, Union passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010 at Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg.
Mr. Barnette was born in Union, SC Feb. 19, 1923, a son of the late Horry and Virginia Davis Barnette. He was a graduate of Union High School and a retired insurance agent. A member of First Baptist Church, Mr. Barnette served as a former Deacon. He was veteran of the US Navy and a Mason.
Survivors are a daughter, Jenny B Crocker and husband Evans of Union; a son, Paul Little Barnette and wife Marsha of Sumter; four grandchildren, Kim B. Osborne and husband Brandon, Kacie Barnette, Mary Evans Crocker, Tyler Crocker; a special great-grandson, Caleb Osborne; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Barnette was predeceased by six brothers, George E., Earl, Clifford, Ned, Albert and Herbert Barnette.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010 at First Baptist Church conducted by Robert Emory. Burial will be at Union Memorial Gardens.
Active Pallbearers will be Roger Bailey, John Garner, Todd Little, Bob Garner, Gerald Barnette, Jake Black, Bill Garner, George Barnette and Danny Little.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 p.m. before the service at the First Baptist Church chapel.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 405 East Main St. Union, SC 29379 or Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, Jeff Davis Dr. Spartanburg, SC 29303.
The family is at the home of his daughter, Jenny and Evans Crocker, 773 Tinker Creek Rd. Union, SC.
