A Union man is facing criminal charges after admitting to stealing money from a local restaurant.
Kevin Michael Flowers, 27, 218 Mills St., is charged by The Union Public Safety Department with two counts of second-degree burglary and one count of petit larceny.
The incident report filed by the investigator handling the case states the restaurant’s owner contacted authorities about money being stolen from his business at 551 Thomson Boulevard. The victim said between Dec. 14 and Jan. 14 gift certificates and $384 in cash was stolen from his restaurant. He said he suspected a friend of his but wasn’t sure, adding the suspect was entering his business after hours.
The investigator states he located Flowers at the restaurant and asked him to come to the public safety department to talk about the incident. After arriving at the department Flowers was advised of his Miranda rights and then questioned by the investigator. The report states Flowers admitted to the investigator he had entered the business on two occasions and took money for his personal use. He then gave the investigator written statements about both incidents.
Flowers was arrested Friday afternoon.
Shoplifting Teens
Three 16-year-old boys found themselves in trouble Tuesday when they were caught shoplifting. The teens were arrested after being observed shoplifting items at a store on North Duncan Bypass shortly after 4 p.m.
A witness told the responding officer he observed the teens conceal on their persons two pairs of men’s boxers, a pack of vibrating rings and a pack of condoms. The three then exited the store without paying for the items only to be stopped once they were outside.
The items were recovered but could not be resold because they had been opened. The teens were transported to the public safety deparment where they were later released to their guardians.

Malicious Damage
An officer was dispatched Wednesday morning to a business at 210 Keenan Avenue in response to a report of a damaged air conditioning unit. The victim said he used a gas package unit on a small utility trailer behind his business. He said sometime between 3 p.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. Wednesday someone tried to steal the copper coil packs out of the unit. Damage to the outer metal case of the unit sets in was estimated at $200.

Identity Theft
A woman told deputies Monday she was the victim of identity theft for nearly two weeks in December. The victim said she notice her credit card statement listed numerous transactions she wasn’t aware of. The first transaction took place on Dec. 10 and the last on Dec. 21. for a total of $1,348.21.
Stolen Necklace
Deputies are also investigating the theft of a $700 necklace from a residence at 897 Hawkins Road. The victim said on Monday she noticed her butterfly necklace was missing from the box she placed it in a few days before.

Clarassia Epps, 35, 941 Berry Farm Road, Union, charged Tuesday with driving under suspension.
Princess Kolia Miller, 32, 116 Horseshoe Circle, Union, charged Wednesday with driving under suspension.
The following persons were arrested by the sheriff’s office:
Richard Lee Gilliam, 39, 200 Kissy Creek Circle, Union, charged Tuesday with public intoxication.
Alyssia Brooke Sinclair, 19, 116 Old Shetley Place, Union, charged Tuesday with breach of peace.
