Getting into a fight is a good way to end up in jail, especially if you stab the person trying to break it up.

Brian Scott Henderson, 31, 302 Canal Road, Lockhart, is charged by the Union County Sheriff’s Office with assault and battery with intent to kill. Henderson was arrested at his home shortly before midnight Monday for allegedly stabbing a man twice a short time earlier. He was transported to the Union County Jail where he remained as of this morning.

Deputies were dispatched shortly before 9 p.m. in response to a report of a stabbing on North Second Street in Lockhart. When they arrived they found the victim lying on a bed bleeding from stab wounds in his back and left armpit. A witness told deputies he and the victim were in “The Flat” where Henderson and his brother were fighting. He said the victim went to try and break them up and they turned on him with Henderson pulling out a knife and stabbing him.

The deputies then went to Henderson’s home where they found him waiting to talk to them. They placed him under arrest and began taking statements. Upon further investigation, they learned another member of Henderson’s family had thrown the knife into the Lockhart Canal.

Capt. James McNeil said the investiation is continuing and more charges could be filed. He said Miller, who was airlifted to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, was treated and released as of this morning.
