A Union teen has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a young woman outside a club at the beginning of the year.
Schavontee Glenn, 17, 129 West Main St., Apt. 204, Union, is charged by the Union County Sheriff’s Office with criminal sexual conduct third-degree. Glenn, who was arrested Wednesday, is accused of sexually assaulting a young woman during an incident that began shortly after midnight Jan. 3 at a club on Maybinton Road.
Deputies were dispatched to the club in response to a report of 30 people fighting in the club’s parking. The caller who reported the fight said they also heard people involved in the fight talking about getting guns. Dispatch informed the deputies gunshots had been fired into the building through a window and that another window had been broken.
The building had been rented by a woman who was throwing a party for her son. She and the building’s owner told deputies the trouble began when 10 males from Carlisle were asked to leave for causing a disturbance. They said once the Carlisle males were outside they began fighting. The owner said a short black male with dreadlocks was firing a gun. He and the woman said the males broke the windows and were kicking the door.
Deputies would recover a black Highpoint 9mm Model C9 handgun on the side of the road as well as two empty 9mm shell casings from in front of the club.
In the course of their investigation, deputies were told a young woman was sexually assaulted and she had left the scene. Deputies were unable to locate her but the next day a woman reported she was the one who had been sexually assaulted. The woman said she was trying to break up the fight and accidentally got locked out of the club. She said she then got into a fight with one of the Carlisle males when she tried to stop him from kicking a door. The male then got a woman to jump on her and as she was fighting with her attacker the male pushed her face into the ground and then punched her causing her to black out.
It was while she was on the ground the woman said a second male sexually assaulted her. She said she did not know his name but described him as as short, thin black male with short hair wearing a black hat and dark colored jacket.
Glenn was transported to the Union County Jail at the time of his arrest but has since been released on bond.
Two other arrests have also been made in the incident.
Reco Danelle Tucker, 22, 125 Tucker Lane, and Tana Lashay Jeter, 21, 117 Cambridge St., both of Carlisle, are charged by the sheriff’s office with assault and battery. The two were taken into custody on Jan. 5.
Investigation
The following incident is being investigated by the sheriff’s office:
Boat Vandalized
A deputy was dispatched to a residence at 1143 Tinker Creek Road Thursday in response to a report of a boat being vandalized. The victim told the deputy sometime between Dec.1, 2009, and 1 p.m. Thursday someone broke into the shed behind his house and drilled seven half-inch holes in the bottom of his 1999 Skeeter bass boat. The victim said he and another person found the holes when they attempted to put the boat into a lake and it almost sank.
Damage to the boat is estimated at $2,000.
The victim said the person who drilled the holes would have had to use a cordless drill because the shed has no electricity. The vandal or vandals apparently entered the building by taking the pin out of the hatch lock on the door.
Arrests
The following persons were arrested by the sheriff’s office:
Anthony Fitzgerald Curenton, 34, 130 Horseshoe Circle, Union, charged Thursday with two counts of fraudulent check.
Amy Elizabeth Griffith, 33, 123 Woodlawn Avenue, Union, charged Thursday with fraudulent check.
