The Wolverines tore into Newberry on Tuesday night but fell short against Ware Shoals.
Whitmire started the night off strong with three wins in a row but ended up losing 31-23 to Ware Shoals.
After forfeiting the 109- and 112-pound classes, Devin Armstrong won by decision (119 pounds ). Dillan Graves then won by pin in the first round (125 pounds).
John Paul Miller lost by pin in the second round (130 pounds); Whitmire forfeited the 135-pound class; Seth Horton won by forfeit (140 pounds); Tim Epps lost by decision (160 pounds); Jared Wicker lost by major decision (171 pounds).
Ethan Campbell then won by pin in the first round (189 pounds); Seth Shouse won by pin in the first (215 pounds). Whitmire forfeited the 285-pound class.
Next, Whitmire faced off against Newberry and won a tie-breaker 31-30.
Armstrong lost by decision; Graves won by pin in the first round; Miller won by forfeit; Horton won by pin in the second round; Eric Shouse won by forfeit; Epps won by pin in the first round; Wicker won by decision; Campbell won by pin in the second round; Seth Shouse lost by pin in the second round.
On Tuesday, Whitmire lost 47-36 to Landrum and 37-36 to Christ Church.
Next, the Wolverines travel to take on Mid-Carolina and Newberry 6 p.m. Jan. 20 at Mid-Carolina.
