Union man attacks woman; Breaks her cell phone

A Union man ended up in jail after allegedly attacking a woman and breaking her cell phone.

James Michael Jeter, 25, 402 Scott St., is charged by the Union Public Safety Department with malicious damage and criminal domestic violence.

The warrants for Jeter’s arrest state on Thursday at 310 South Church St. he struck a woman in the face causing her to seek medical attention and fear for her safety. They also state he took her cell phone and threw it on the ground causing it to break.

Jeter was arrested Monday and transported to the Union County Jail where he remained until being released on bond later the same day.

Investigations

The following incidents are being investigated by the public safety department:

CD Player Stolen

A man went to school Monday afternoon and when he came out that evening someone had stolen his CD player from his car.

The victim told the responding officer he parked his car at 401 East Main St. around 5 p.m. and went to class. When he came out shortly before 7 p.m. he found someone had opened his car door and stole the CD player. The CD player is black in color with an estimated value of $100.

While the victim said he locked his car doors the responding officer reported finding no signs of forced entry.

Attempted Burglary

Though they didn’t get into the building, a would-be thief’s attempt to break into a physician’s office at 201 West South St. did $50 worth of damage to its back door. The attempted break-in occurred sometime between 3 p.m. Friday and 7:45 p.m. Monday. The report states the person or persons trying to break into the building appeared to have used some item in an unusuccessful attempt to pry open the door.

Vandalism

A car parked at 114 New Street on Sunday night was the target of a vandal or vandals who did an estimated $900 damage to the vehicle. The victim told the responding officer she parked her 1999 Ford Expedition around 4:30 p.m. Sunday and sometime between then and 8:30 a.m. Monday someone scratched the hood and both sides of the vehicle.

Arrests

The following persons were arrested by the public safety department:

Thomas Worthy, 51, 128 Lovers Lane Road, Union, charged Monday with public drunk/disorderly conduct.

Christopher Lee Edwards, 37, 154 Hamm St., Union, charged Monday with criminal domestic violence.

Patricia Ann Bright, 53, 216 Haywood St., Buffalo, charged Monday with shoplifting.
