The “Classic Star Image Enhancement” at Hardees was a big hit with patrons Friday morning who were happy to once again sit down for breakfast in the restaurant.

James Lowe described the restaurant’s remodel during the past week as “beautiful” and “impressive.” His dining companions, Walter Pirkle and Jimmy Humphries were also impressed with the results.

Pirkle said “whoever did it did a beautiful job” and Humphries said his favorie part are the new shades installed at the windows which he hopes will keep the sun out of his and other diner’s eyes in the morning.

Hardees was closed to all but drive-thru customers from Saturday afternoon until Friday morning so its exterior and much of its interior could be remodeled. The remodeling included installation of new floor tile, new chairs and new booths in the dining area, a new look for the beverage bar and a complete makeover of the restrooms. The exterior now sports a new entryway, new marquee, a new metal roof around the facade and fresh paint.

District Manager Brett Burgess said the dining area reopened around 8:30 a.m. and not a moment too soon.

“People were trying to get in before we opened up,” Burgess said. “The first customers in said they were very excited, they said they come in here three times a week.”

The customers weren’t the only ones impressed with the results, either. General Manager Alice Williams worked at the restaurant in the 1970s, 1980s and most recently for the last six years and has seen it remodeled a number of times. The restaurant was last remodeled six years ago but Williams said this is the best one.

“I like it — everybody seems to like it,” Williams said. “It’s the best remodel I’ve ever seen in here.”

Burgess said most Hardees restaurants in the area have undergone or will soon be undergoing similar makeovers. Among those scheduled for remodeling in the near future are the Hardees on Cherokee Avenue in Gaffney and the restaurants in Pacolet, Roebuck and Cowpens. Nancy and Monroe Smith were among those dining at Hardees Friday morning and they, too, voiced approval of the remodeling and of the restaurant itself.

“I like it,” Monroe said. “We’ve been eating here since it’s been here but the last two years we’ve really been eating here.” “It’s pretty, it’s nice and you can’t beat their breakfast,” Nancy added.
