Work at the Union County Courthouse was very nearly a chilling experience for county employees after a faulty boiler left the building without heat Wednesday.

Supervisor Tommy Sinclair said that tubing in the boiler in the basement went out Wednesday morning forcing courthouse staff to find ways to keep warm.

“We told them to dress warmly and bring space heaters,” Sinclair said.

A large area space heater like those used on athletic fields was placed in the courthouse lobby for two hours to knock the chill off before most employees arrived. It was used throughout the day help keep the lobby warm for employees and the public.

Sinclair said efforts are being made to repair the boiler and get the heat back on by Monday when Common Pleas Court will be in session on the second floor of the courthouse.
