A Pacolet man is being charged with kidnapping for allegedly holding a woman against her will.
Christopher Robin Edwards, 29, 140 Chapman Road, is charged by the Union County Sheriff’s Office with an incident that occurred the early hours of Dec. 5. A woman reported that she’d been at a Spartanburg restaurant with friends when a man she knew asked her for a ride home, but on the way there he began to solicit her and once they arrived he grabbed her keys and cell phone and told her she’d have to come get them and went inside.
The woman said that when she went inside to retrieve her belongings the man would not allow her to leave. She said that after she tried to leave several times she threatened to call the police and the man responded by throwing her cell phone into the toilet.
The woman said that her captor repeatedly grabbed her, pulled on her and slung her on to the couch when she tried to leave. She said she was frightened and set down and cried while the man set down in the chair and told her they were going to have sex.
Two hours after the incident began, the woman said the man passed out in the chair and she was finally able to leave.
The report filed with the sheriff’s office states that the victim had bruising and redness to both forearms; a bruise on the back of her left arm; redness and bruising to her neck and chest; a scratch on her hand; and a bruised and busted lip.
Edwards was taken into custody Tuesday and taken to the Union County Jail where he was released on bond.
