An argument over a set of car keys helped land a Union woman in jail Monday afternoon.

Eunice Marie Jeter, 39, 221 East Main St., is charged by the public safety department with criminal domestic violence.

An officer was dispatched to Jeter’s residence in response to a report of a domestic dispute. The victim told the officer he and Jeter had gotten into an argument over a set of car keys. He said Jeter had become irate and jabbed him two or three times in the nose with a cordless phone with the phone’s antenna actually going in his nostrils.

In his report, the officer states there was a steady stream of blood coming out of the victim’s nose. He also noted there was blood on the phone’s antenna.

When questioned by the officer, Jeter said she and the victim had been arguing over ownership of the keys and she had hit him in the face. She said the victim had struck her in the eye but the officer reports he was unable to detect any swelling or redness in either of Jeter’s eyes. He placed Jeter under arrest and transported her to the jail.

More Criminal Domestic Violence

An argument over a card game that degenerated into physical abuse landed a Union man in jail late Monday night.

Travis Wayne Gibson, 29, 207 Wilbur St., Union, is charged by the public safety department with criminal domestic abuse.

A public safety officer was dispatched to 102 James St. late Monday in response to a report of an assault at 207 Wilbur St. The officer reports when he arrived he found the victim who appeared very upset and scared. The victim told the officer she and Gibson were playing cards with some friends when Gibson became very hostile. She said she quit playing cards and went into the bathroom and when she came out the friends told her Gibson had left in her car.

The victim said she walked home which was just around the corner. She said when she arrived Gibson was still very hostile and began throwing and breaking things. She said she was sitting on the couch when Gibson said he hated her and flipped the couch over. She said she tried to leave but he grabbed her by the hair, yanked her back and said she could leave but wouldn’t let her go.

When she finally managed to get out the front door, the victim said Gibson followed her, knocked her to the ground, got on top of her and choked her. She finally got away from him and ran to a neighbor’s house to call for help.

The officer reported the victim had several scratches and redness around her neck and that several clumps of her hair were coming out.

Gibson was arrested later shortly before midnight and transported to the jail.
