UNION, SC — Mr. Wade Herman Howell, 80 widower of Bobbie Wilbanks Howell, of 1297 Meansville Rd., Union, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness.

Mr. Howell was born in Buffalo, April 14, 1929 a son of the late Herbert and Onie Johnson Howell. He was retired from United Merchants Buffalo Plant and was a member of Gilead Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary New and husband Leroy and Teresa Waldrop all of Jonesville; one son, James Howell and wife Perri of Spartanburg; one sister, Frances Candler and husband Harold of Union; one step-daughter, Sandra Bobo of Union; two step-son, Clyde Seymore of Union and Billy Seymore of Joanna; 14 grandchildren; and three very special great-grandchildren Paul Heatherly, Raine York, and Alayna Becknell. Mr. Howell was predeased by a daughter, Paula Heatherly; two sisters, Doris Palmer and Geraldine Bridges; two brothers, Donald and Maurice Howell; and a son-in-law, Wayne Waldrop.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Randy Burgess. Burial will be in Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be O’Neil Howell, O’Neil Bridges, Eugene Palmer, Mike Palmer, Thomas Sinclair, and Joel Candler.

The following are asked to assemble at the chapel at 2:45 to form the honorary escort: Oscar Dawkins, W.J. Scales, Stonie Keith, Ben Smith and Hugh Sanders.

Mr. Howell will be carried to the home of his daughter, Mary New, 116 Sprouse Rd., Jonesville, SC, 29353, where the family will receive friends.
