Area Christmas Parades slated; Thanksgiving closings also announced

REGIONAL — It’s the time of year again and Union County is going to celebrate the holidays in style.

Here is a list of upcoming Christmas Parades around the county:

Buffalo 4 p.m. Nov. 29

Carlisle 2 p.m. Dec. 12

Jonesville 6 p.m. Dec. 5

Lockhart 3 p.m. Dec. 6

Union 3 p.m. Dec. 13

Whitmire 1 p.m. Dec. 12

Mark your calendars and plan to attend your community’s holiday parade or ring in Christmas by catching all six events.

And with Thanksgiving just around the corner this Thursday, area municipalities and the county have announced when their offices will be closed to observe the holiday.

Here are the days each office will be closed:

City/Town Days closed

Carlisle Thursday, Friday

Jonesville Thursday, Friday

Lockhart Thursday, Friday

Union Thursday, Friday

Union County Thursday, Friday

(All offices and the courthouse)

Whitmire Thursday, Friday

(Trash will be picked up Friday)

SCHOOL CLOSINGS:

Students in the Union County School District will get Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off for the Thanksgiving holiday. USC-Union students will have Thursday and Friday off in observance of the holiday. Public school and college offices also will be closed.
