CHESTER, SC — Mrs. Betty Black Thompson, 74, formerly of 730 Spirit Circle, Chester, SC, widow of Donald L. Thompson, died Friday, Nov. 20, 2009 at Chester Regional Nursing Center.

Mrs. Thompson was born in Union County, SC, July 20, 1935, a daughter of the late Sam R. Black and Bell Knox Black. She was a graduate of Jonesville High School and was formerly employed with the hospitals in Union and Chester. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters Donna Jean Thompson and Deanne Marie Thompson both of Chester; four sisters, Susie Palmer of Union, Nancy Black, Helen Meredith and Elizabeth Black all of Chester; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009 at Fairforest Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Tim Driggers. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held 3-5 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the SR Holcombe Funeral Home.

The family is at the home of her daughter, Donna Jean Thompson, 730 Spirit Circle, Chester, SC 29706.
