The RiverRats are the South Carolina Winter State Champions for the second year in a row.

The team, which is from Lockhart, went undefeated this past weekend in Lexington.

On Saturday, they beat the S.C. Hurricanes 9-1 and Mt. Pleasant Diamond Warriors 15-2.

On Sunday, the RiverRats defeated three teams to bring the title home.

“We played a game at 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Three back-to-back games,” manager Jeff Bailey said. “These kids were on the field from 1 to 7. That says a lot about these kids.”

The tournament win places the RiverRats No. 1 in the state for 12 and Under AAA ball. They are ranked No. 11 in the nation out of 330 teams that play in the USSSA.
