The UCHS boys and girls cross country teams competed against Clinton, Chapman and Chester on Tuesday, with both Jacket teams winning on their home turf. 

Jesse Luttner and Hydia Greene placed first overall. 

Girls' results were: 1st Greene (22:38); 3rd Christa Green (23:49); 4th Kirsten Sanders (24:10); 6th Kelley Strong (25:31); 9th Brittany Best (27:39); 16th Alyssa Edwards (33:30); and 18th Angie Mahorne (55:00).  Strong competed well in her first meet this season after recovering from a preseason injury. Amanda Sinclair and Boys' results were: 1st Luttner (18:31); 3rd Brandon Burton (19:44); 5th Ethan Turner (20:13); 10th Michael Kitchens (20:52); 11th Cody Sills (21:05); 13th Cash Armstrong (23:02); and 21st Allen Walker (27:21). 

UCHS TENNIS

Union County’s girls tennis team won 7-0 over Greer Tuesday night.

Scores were: Kelsey Harris (UC) 6-4, 6-3 over Kylie Sandusky, Abby Allen (UC) 6-1, 6-0 over Courtney Garrett, Lauren Harrison (UC) 6-1, 6-0 over Devin Gibson, Kristen Martin (UC) won 6-0, 6-2 over Brea Burnette, Brittany Ledford (UC) 6-0, 6-3 over Brooke Tawls. 

In doules, Allen and Harris (UC) won 8-2 over Sandusky and Garrett  and Logan Wade and Rachel Jones won 6-4, 6-3 over Emily Griffin and Haley Johnson. Victoria Barker was also a winner with a 8-3 victory over Julia Williams

UCHS JV VOLLEYBALL

Greer defeated Union County’s junior varisty team on Tuesday, 25-5 and 25-11.

“We had a terrible game at Greer,” coach Sherry Jackson said. ”We were never in the game.”

Ashley Vaughan had a kill.  Brishawna Stewart had an ace. Makaylah Plemmons had a dig. 

“We need to come together as we play the second round of region games in order to get a win,” Jackson said.

WHITMIRE TENNIS

Whitmire’s tennis team beat Landrum Tuesday, 5-2.

Deanna Willard won her match 6-2, 6-2; Alex Cromer 6-3, 6-2; Allyson Greenway 6-2, 2-6, 10-7.

In double’s actio Willard and Lynlee Thompson won 8-7, 8-7, 8-7; Jordon Suber and D.J. Norton 3-6, 6-1, 10-5.
