The Union County Young Republicans will officially receive its charter from the South Carolina Federation of Young Republicans this evening at the Union County Courthouse.

Chairman Tyler Shugart said that the presentation will be made at 7 p.m. in the Grand Jury Room. Shugart said that the charter will be presented by Britton Pruett, chairman of the South Carolina Federation of Young Republicans. He said that charter makes local group a part of state organization and also a member of the National Young Republicans. This will allow the local Young Republicans to take part in the state convention and, hopefully, a voice in the state government.

“This is an important meeting for the UCYR as we will receive our charter from the SCYR,” chairman Tyler Shugart said. “We are very excited by this and look forward to working with Young Republicans across the state to accomplish the Young Republican goals in South Carolina. Those goals are to elect Republicans in every office in the State of South Carolina. We’re going to be working hard to get Republicans elected here in Union County.”

The evening’s agenda will also include a presentation on the Constitution and the government by Mark Sanders. Shugart said the Young Republicans are looking forward to Sanders’ presentation.
