This letter is to make you aware of the SOAR Academy located on South Pine Street in Spartanburg.
SOAR is a school for special needs children. At this school the children receive love, care, education and different forms of therapy according to their special needs.
My grandson, Joey, who is 6 years old, was diagnosed with severe autism at the age of 3. Since attending SOAR Academy, he has made tremendous progress in learning and behavioral skills. He can write his name unassisted, recite the alphabet, count and read some words. His behavior has also greatly improved. He listens and understands much better. He is also able to communicate his needs and desires better. His verbals skills have also greatly improved. I finally got to hear Joey say “Granny” and “I love you.”
Several of the students that attend SOAR are from Union County. That’s why I am asking for your support for an upcoming fund-raiser. On Saturday, Oct. 3, from 7 a.m.-until, SOAR Academy will be having a hot dog, bake and yard sale.
Please plan to come and help these children with special needs by supporting this event.
The address for SOAR is 2407 South Pine St., Spartanburg, S.C. 39302.
