MONTICELLO — Department of Natural Resources officers located the body of a 34-year-old Union man in Lake Monticello Tuesday.

According to WLTX-TV, Fairfield County Coroner James Ramsey said the body of Michael Shane Bledsoe of Union was recovered just before noon Tuesday about 800 yards off shore.

DNR officials say Bledsoe jumped off a boat about 7:50 p.m. Saturday night and never resurfaced. Ramsey said Bledsoe was fishing with friends and wanted to cool off.

Crews from Union, Fairfield and Prosperity searched the area — along with the Department of Natural Resources — for 10 hours Sunday before stopping.

Bledsoe was emplolyed by Henderson Plumbing in Union.
