WHITMIRE — The Lady Wolverines’ girls’ tennis team blanked Chester 7-0 on Monday.

In singles play, Jenna Baker defeated Gabriel Glenn 6-3, 6-1; Lynlee Thompson defeated Cadisha Mark 6-0, 6-2; Deanna Willard defeated Tyresha Houston 6-0, 6-0; Alex Cromer defeated Joceyln Boulware 6-0, 6-0; and Allyson Greenway defeated Tiona Thompson 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles play, Thompson and Willard defeated Glenn and Mark 8-0; Jordan Suber and D.J. Norton defeated Nikki Crank and Destiny Hughes 6-0, 6-3.

WCS (5-1) travels to Christ Church on Thursday.

UCHS TENNIS

Union County’s girls’ tennis team’s match with Riverside was postponed due to storms on Monday and will be rescheduled at a later date.

UCHS travels to Blue Ridge on Wednesday.

WCS VOLLEYBALL

Whitmire’s volleyball team’s match with Newberry on Monday was postponed and will be rescheduled.

WCS hosts Blacksburg today.

LMS VOLLEYBALL

Lockhart defeated Jonesville 3-0 in volleyball action on Monday.

SIMS VOLLEYBALL

Sims’ volleyball team lost to Woodruff and Florence Chapel on Monday.

Woodruff won 2-0 — 25-10 and 25-5.

“We just were not focused and ready to play,” said Tiger coach Tracy Duncan. “I felt like we could have beat them if we would have played as a team and communicated to one another.”

Florence Chapel won 2-1 — 26-24, 12-25, 15-11.

“If we would have played as intense the first match, as we played the second match, we would have won.”

Serving was led by Connor Wicker and Chelise Morman.

“I am very proud of the way we played as a team,” said Duncan.

Sims travels to Boiling Springs on Wednesday.
