Lady Eagles
The Lady Eagles played well, but could not overcome a bad night from the serving line, losing 3-0. Carolina won 25-5, 25-23 and 25-16.
Coach Bennett was impressed with their improvement on the court and said that the serving will continue to improve as the team concentrates on that area in the coming practices.
Senior Gabriel Cromer led the Eagles with a total of eight points served for the match. Following Cromer were senior Sidney Bennett and freshman Mychaela Pettit, both with five points.
The Lady Eagles are now 1-2 on the season.
Eagles
The UCDS Eagles started the night by taking a two game lead against the Cougars, but were unable to close the match in the third game.
The Cougars were able to rally in games four and five to give the Eagles their first defeat of the season. The game scores were 25-13, 25-10, 22-25, 14-25 and 6-15.
This match marked the first time this year that the Eagles had to play more than three games in a match for a win.
Points served for the match were led by freshman Leland Comtois with 25. He was followed by senior Dustin Medford with nine.
Comtois now leads the team with a total of 51 points in three matches.
The Eagles are now 2-1 on the season.
Union Christian Day will be hosting Blessed Hope today, with the girls playing at 5 p.m. and the boys to follow.
