NEWBERRY — Whitmire’s girls’ tennis team defeated county-rival Newberry twice on Wednesday, winning both matches by a score of 7-0.

In the first match, the conclusion of a rainout on Sept. 9 — Jenna Baker defeated Elaine Parr 6-1, 6-2; Lynlee Thompson defeated Daija Rogers 6-2, 6-1; Deanna Willard defeated Hannah Carrey 6-0, 6-3; Alex Cromer defeated Kaylin Jones 6-0, 6-0; Allyson Greenway defeated Shikerria Henderson 6-0, 6-0; Baker and Willard defeated Parr and Rogers 6-2, 6-2; Jordan Suber and D.J. Norton defeated Sarah Jane Senn and Denise Riley 6-2, 6-0.

In the second match, Baker defeated Parr 5-7, 6-0 (10-8); Willard defeated Rogers 6-2, 6-1; Cromer defeated Carrey 6-0, 6-1; Greenway defeated Jones 6-1, 6-0; Suber defeated Henderson 6-0, 6-0; Baker and Willard defeated Parr and Rogers 8-1; Savannah Simon and Norton defeated Senn and Riley 6-1, 7-6(3).

Whitmire (4-1, 0-1) hosts Chester on Monday.
