Ms. Rountree was born in Union, Aug. 6, 1940, a daughter of James R. Rountree, Sr. of the home and the late Margaret Caldwell Rountree. She was a 1958 graduate of Union High School and a 1962 graduate of the University of South Carolina. Ms. Rountree was employed with Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C., for over 43 years. She was a life long member of Grace United Methodist Church and was an avid Gamecock fan.
Surviving in addition to her father are two brothers, James R. Rountree Jr. and wife Donna of Charlotte, John F. Rountree and wife Debra of Inman; cousins, Patty Russell, Kris Bridger and Steve Rountree; two nieces, Meredith Tarbell and Frances Vaughan; two nephews, Wes Rountree and Reay Rountree; and a very dear friend, Ned Owings.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, at Grace United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. David Caughman. The family will receive friends immediately following the committal service at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Churh, 201 S. Church St., Union, S.C., 29379.
