Antwan Curenton

Quarterback Curenton is, compared to his teammates, somewhat of a "rookie" player, having started playing football in the 10th grade. His first memorable experience in football was when the Union JV beat Blue Ridge, 22-20.

He likes playing football for the fun of it and the "… possibility of getting a (championship) ring."

Curenton lives with his mom and step-dad here in Union and plans to go into the Marines after graduation and then head to college. He lists math as his favorite subject because working with numbers comes easy for him

He likes Clemson in the collegiate ranks and the Cowboys in the pros though Michael Vick is his favorite player because he likes to watch Vick’s footwork.

And like all the Jackets, his goal for the team is to win state and get that championship ring.

Tate Knox

Tate lives with his parents, Tommy and Jenny Lyn, here in Union and loves playing football for the intensity of the game, something he experiences every game as a fullback and defensive lineman.

Starting in the first grade, Knox has played just about every offensive position, including his current positions, as well as tight end, running back, punter and kicker. His first football memory goes back to flag football and the time he scored his first touchdown.

"I enjoy learning about the past," says Knox for why he likes history, the best of all his classes. After graduation, he plans to go to college and major in education.

Hines Ward is his favorite pro player because he is a dominant playmaker, which explains why he likes the Steelers. Georgia is his top college pick.

His personal goal is "… to give 100 percent every Friday night," as he works toward his team goal of winning the region and then the state.

Drell Smith

Drell has been playing football since the 9th grade at defensive end and loves the game because "… I get to hit someone." That happened for the first time while playing at Sims Junior High when he got a chance to make a hit on a quarterback.

After graduation, Smith plans to get a job and then eventually buy his own home.

Like Knox, Smith lists history as his favorite subject because "… I like to know about our past."

Drell lives with his mom and stepfather here in Union and likes the Gamecocks and the Atlanta Falcons. Ray Lewis is his favorite pro player.

He wants to "go hard and win the big games" this year, leading to a state championship.

Dillon West

Dillon lives with his parents, Al and Becky West, outside Buffalo in the country. After graduation, he plans to get a job and then go to college.

The Gamecocks are his favorite college team and the Panthers top his pro choice.

Dillon has been playing football since the 8th grade at the guard positions and center on the offensive line and loves football for the contact.

His first football memory goes back to the time when he went to his brother’s JV practice.

Math is his favorite subject because "… I can work out the problem step by step."
