Two Jonesville men were killed early Tuesday in a one-vehicle crash on the Jerusalem Road.

Deputy Coroner John Fallaw identified the victims as 47-year-old Johnny D. Moon of 200 Hames Ave., who was the driver of vehicle, and 33-year-old Kenneth Duncan of 2551 Jerusalem Road, the passenger.

Autopsies for both men were scheduled Tuesday at Newberry County Memorial Hospital, Fallaw said.

Lance Cpl. Brian McDougald of the South Carolina Highway Patrol said Moon was traveling east in a 2003 Ford pickup around 1:30 a.m. in the 1500 block of the Jerusalem Road when he lost control in a curve, went off the left side of the roadway, then back off the right side of the roadway. The truck then struck several trees.

McDougald said neither man was wearing a seat belt and both were trapped in the vehicle.

The wreck is still under investigation, McDougald said.

Fallaw said family members said the men had been to a store and were returning to Duncan’s home.
