The past two months the Girls in Action group at Putman Baptist Church (1st through 6th grade girls) have been gathering school supplies and/or money to purchase supplies. We had a Back to School Bash on Aug. 8 to had out supplies and then donated what was left to the schools.
I just wanted to thank our church and the people of Union County for making it a sucess. These girls gathered three plastic bins of school supplies and over $600 to purchase supplies. This was well beyond our goal and it wouldn't have been possible without the good people of Union. Wal-mart was very helpful in letting us set up in their parking lot to do collections. Also, Gene's Fine Food was wonderful in donating supplies when they found out about it.
The girls have learned that people in Union really do care about the welfare of the children of Union. Once again, thank you so much for your support Union County. We also thank our church, the Ladies for Christ and youth group of our church and of course, our Lord — without him it wouldn't have been possible.
