“It was a small school and you knew everybody,” Shugart said.
Those who would like to relive old memories and see people they might not have seen in a while are invited to attend the 2009 Lockhart High School Reunion. The reunion is for anybody who attended Lockhart High. It will be held Oct. 10 from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. at the school.
The cost is $20. There will be a catered meal at 2 p.m. and a dance that evening. Hash and other foods will be offered later in the day.
When the reunion was first announced, July 15 initially was given as the deadline for registration. Shugart said organizers wanted to make sure there would be enough interest to warrant having the reunion. So far, 200 people have paid to attend. The deadline has been extended. Most of these people are from outside of Lockhart. Shugart said organizers hope more local people also will attend.
“We’ve got folks from as far away as Washington state, California, Texas, Virginia and Alabama,” Shugart said.
Former teachers will receive a special invitation to attend, Shugart said.
(Those wanting to attend the reunion may mail a check to Shugart at P.O. Box 354, Lockhart, 29364. Checks should be made out to “Lockhart High School Reunion.”)
