Public safety officers are looking for a group of men who attacked a woman and took her motorized bike Sunday.
The 45-year-old victim told Cpl. Scott Farr she was leaving the parking lot of Dixie Curb Market on 309 West South St. around 8:50 p.m. when eight or nine men flagged her down at the roadway in front of the vacant restaurant next door.
They asked her to pull into the parking lot and she did. She said the men forced her to the ground and pulled her over to the side of the building. They began going through her pockets, looking for money. One pocket was pulled so hard it was ripped off.
One of the men got onto her blue and black Beamer moped and drove off in the direction of West Henrietta Street. The victim said the moped is worth $2,000.
EMS was called. The victim refused medical attention and said she only needed a ride home.
Drug arrest
Another defendant has been arrested in “Summer Slam” a joint city/county drug sweep.
Terrence Jomen Salter, 25, of 500 Arthur Boulevard, was charged Friday by the Union Public Safety Department with distribution of crack cocaine and distribution of crack cocaine within one-half mile of a school. He has been released from the Union County Jail on $10,000 surety bond.
According to arrest warrants signed by Investigator Mickey Parker, Salter sold crack to an informant on Chambers Avenue on June 1. The sale occurred within one-half mile of Excelsior Middle School.
Assault charge
A Union man is accused of trying to choke another man with a belt.
Wilbur Thompson, 64, of 109 McKanic Road was charged Sunday with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
An arrest warrant signed by PFC Eddie Williams said Thompson put a belt around the throat of Harold Thompson during an altercation on West Henrietta Street.
Harold Thompson, 39, of 101 Hodges Lane, was charged with disorderly conduct in the matter.
Charged in assault
Timothy Eugene Beachum, 44, of 405 Duncan Ave., Buffalo, was charged Saturday by the Union County Sheriff’s Office with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.
A report said officers were called to Beachum’s residence around 7:30 a.m. A woman there said Beachum had come home intoxicated and had struck her in the left side of the face repeatedly, kicked her in the left side and took a belt and struck her across the back.
The woman was transported to Wallace Thomson Hospital for treatment in the emergency room.
Thefts and break-ins
A break-in was reported Friday at a garage on 205 Harwood Heights. The victim told Cpl. Tommy Hart that someone pried the front door open and took aluminum valve covers worth $100, an aluminum intake for a 460 Ford Engine worth $150, a Holley 750 carburetor worth $150, a Quick Fuel 950 carburetor worth $800, and MSD distributor worth $380 , an MSD box worth $250, two aluminum radiators worth $500 and a generator worth $300. The total value of the items taken is $2,630.
On 100 Morris Circle, a victim told Sgt. Kevin Powers Sunday that someone took her yellow Tank moped from her yard. It is worth $1,100.
On 104 Erwin Ave., a woman told Powers Friday that someone tried to pry open the driver’s door of her car. Damage was estimated at $500.
On 625 Littlejohn Road, Jonesville, a victim told Sgt. Russell Vinson Friday that someone took his red Murray riding lawn mower, which is worth $300.
Saturday, a man on 216 Kissy Creek Circle told Deputy Scott Coffer that someone took his brindle boxer mix dog who is about 3 1/2 years old. The victim valued the dog at $350.
Sunday, a man told Deputy Thom McAbee that while his 1988 Ford Mustang was parked at 2189 Jonesville-Lockhart Highway because of mechanical problems, someone took the CD player face to his car, two 12-inch Sony Xplode speakers and an Xplode 800 watt amplifier. These are worth $1,010. Damage to the car was estimated at $500.
