Ricky Keisler Jr., 34, of 214 Gin Circle, pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana within proximity of a school and possession with intent to distribute marijuana, third or more offense. Keisler was sentenced to four years in prison on each of the charges, but Circuit Judge James C. Williams of Orangeburg ordered Keisler’s sentences to run concurrently. Keisler is to report to begin serving his sentence on Sept. 14.
Keisler was arrested by narcotics officers with the Union County Sheriff’s Office on Feb. 11.
A report said narcotics officers with the sheriff’s office provided an operative with money and sent the operative to the home of Jonathan Edward McAbee on 502 Drug Store St., Buffalo, where the operative bought marijuana from Keisler.
Based on the buy, officers got a search warrant for the residence. Keisler was the only one there. Marijuana was seized from his pockets along with $240 cash, including money from the previous buy.
Marijuana also was seized from a black safe and from a dresser drawer in a bedroom where it appeared that children slept.
Two sets of scales also were seized.
McAbee was charged with possession of marijuana. The report said he was arrested because he is the owner of the home and the marijuana was located in a bedroom used by children.
Murphy sentenced
Wesley Chad Murphy, 27, of 302 Blassingame St., was sentenced to 30 months in prison Monday for stabbing an acquaintance. He was given credit for time he has served in the Union County Jail.
Murphy was charged by the sheriff’s office on June 22 with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
Deputies were called to 114 Short St. on June 15 after it was reported someone had been stabbed. When officers arrived, no one would cooperate with information. About 30 minutes later, officers were told the Highway Patrol had stopped a car that had a stabbing victim inside. Calab Kirby said Murphy cut him on the back with a knife. Murphy said he cut Kirby in self-defense after he was attacked by Kirby and another person.
Murphy was released on bond after the June 22 arrest and was arrested twice more. On June 29 he was charged by the sheriff’s office with criminal domestic violence, ill treatment of animals and malicious damage to property. The victim said Murphy became irate with her, broke glass figurines, grabbed her, tried to choke her and later killed her puppy.
On July 19, Murphy was charged by the Union Public Safety Department with assault and battery. An arrest warrant said Murphy pushed, shoved and grabbed his 66-year-old grandmother during an argument at their home. The woman said Murphy shoved her into a gas heater.
