After team pictures this morning, the Jackets will have a short practice.
Practice continues on Saturday. Two-a-day practice starts on Monday.
UCHS scrimmages at Hillcrest at 6 p.m. Thursday and hosts Woodruff at 10 a.m. Saturday.
On Aug. 11, the Jackets scrimmage at Mauldin (6 p.m.). On Aug. 14, UCHS competes at Clinton in jamboree action.
The regular season kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 21 at Chester.
Whitmire also is beginning practice. On Aug. 7, the Wolverines host Indian Land in a scrimmage (6 p.m.). On Aug. 11, WHS travels for a scrimmage with Pelion and Williston-Elko (5:30). The Newberry County Jamboree is Aug. 14.
Whitmire hosts Ninety-Six at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 21 to open the season.
