There will be a “Flea Market At The Fairgrounds” the first Saturday of every month at the Union County Fairgrounds.
Executive director Paul Winters. said the fair board has decided to open the fairgrounds to people in the county who enjoy buying and selling at flea markets. He said the fairgrounds will be open to people wanting to sell yard sale-type items; private businessmen interested in a new venue for selling their merchandise; and farmers with produce for sale.
The first flea market at the fairgrounds was in July and drew 11 vendors. Winters said the next one will be held Saturday. Doors will open at 6 a.m. and vendors may continue selling throughout the day until their merchandise is gone or there are no more customers.
Vendors will pay a $10 fee for space around the fairground midway. The fee will be collected when vendors set up their displays.
Winters said plans are for the flea market to be a monthly event. If there’s enough interest to continue into the winter months, the fair board may open the exhibition hall to the flea market.
