Jordan Sims (photo 1) and Desmond Floyd (photo2) compete during the Jacket Challenge on Thursday at Union County High School. The event is designed to test a players speed, strength and endurance. The top 5 in each classification — linemen, combo and skill — receive a T-Shirt. “Players learn to compete and go tired,” said coach David Lipsey. “It’s a team building competition. It’s about competing against self, getting the best time and endurance.” This is the second year for the Jacket Challenge, introduced by strength coach Dane Nelson. A video of the competition can be viewed at www.uniondailytimes.com, under the more photos link. Results will be published when they are compiled. Union County football practice for rising 10-12 graders will start next Friday. Team pictures will be taken at 9 a.m. and a short practice will be held.
