Pot plants seized in raid

Deputies seized over 300 marijuana plants and stolen property during a raid on a Pacolet home .

Claude Edward Ellison, 55, and his son, Travis Joe Ellison, 25, both of 234 Cedar Lane were charged Monday by the Union County Sheriff’s Office with manufacturing marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of stolen property. Claude Ellison also was charged by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources with illegal possession of a migratory bird (a stuffed owl) and faces one additional charge of possession of stolen property.

A report said officers went with a search warrant to the Ellison home on July 2 and confiscated the marijuana that was growing, a plastic bag of what is believed to be marijuana and an assortment of drug paraphernalia.

According to arrest warrants, a Polaris stolen from a person in Spartanburg County in 2006 was found on the Ellison property, along with a Ruger .22 bolt action rifle stolen from Wilkes County, N.C.
